Press Release
March 19, 2025

In a positive turn of events, an Idaho judge recently ordered the unsealing of numerous documents requested by Empower Oversight on behalf of a former FBI Supervisory Senior Resident Agent who was retaliated against for expressing concern about a search warrant written by lawyers in DOJ and the local U.S. Attorney office. The attorneys had purposefully excluded from the search warrant exculpatory information that was known to the FBI. They also tried to inflate threats of violence and falsely link the Idaho subjects to other acts of violence. Because of these misrepresentations and inaccuracies, the reviewing agents and their supervisor refused to attest to the warrant’s accuracy before a federal magistrate.

The unsealed documents can be found here:

1) the 9/18/2024 motion to unseal the search warrant affidavit,
2) the 9/18/2024 Declaration of Zachery Schoffstall for the motion to unseal, and
3) the 7/20/2022 search warrant affidavit which was unsealed on 12/27/2024
